IEEE Major Boards and Standing Committees

Educational Activities Board (EAB): recommends policies on educational matters and implements programs specifically intended to serve the educational pursuits of IEEE members, the engineering and scientific communities, and the general public.

Publication, Services and Products Board (PSPB) : provides products and services which disseminate information on technical, scientific, professional, and newsworthy topics of interest to members, the engineering and scientific community, and the general public.

Member and Geographic Activities Board (MGAB): develops and maintains an organization of geographically-defined member units committed to the advancement of electrical engineering, electronics, computer engineering and computer sciences, and the allied branches of engineering and related arts and sciences.  

Standards Association Board (IEEE-SA): provides a standards program that serves the global needs of industry, government, and the public. It also works to assure the effectiveness and high visibility of this standards program both within the IEEE and throughout the global community.

Technical Activities Board (TAB): fosters technological innovation and progress by advancing the technical activities of the IEEE for the benefit of the profession and humanity worldwide, and represents the interests of Societies and Technical Councils within the IEEE.

IEEE-USA Board (IEEE-USA): recommends policies and implements programs specifically intended to serve and benefit the members, the profession, and the public in the United States in appropriate professional areas of economic, ethical, legislative, social and technology policy concern.

Audit Committee: reviews policies and procedures which substantially impact the finances and operations of the IEEE.

Awards Board: administers the awards and recognition programs of the IEEE by recognizing members’ contributions in advancing the fields of interest to IEEE and to the benefit of society.

Employee Benefits and Compensation Committee: recommends compensation guidelines, benefits whose costs are budgeted, and related matters, including philosophy, policies, programs and long-term planning, and financial considerations for IEEE employees.  The Committee shall also assist the IEEE in its role as Administer for all employee benefits plans governed by ERISA. 

Ethics and Member Conduct Committee: advises the Board of Directors on ethics policy and concerns as well as fostering awareness on ethical issues and promoting ethical behavior amongst individuals and organizations working within the IEEE fields of interest. 

Fellow Committee: makes recommendations to the IEEE Board of Directors for candidates to be conferred the grade of Fellow. 

Finance Committee: is charged with the oversight and coordination of the financial matters of the IEEE.  

Governance Committee: reviews proposed amendments to IEEE’s governing documents to assure clarity, consistency, and legal compliance. 

History Committee: promotes the collection, writing, and dissemination of historical information in the fields covered by IEEE technical and professional activities, as well as historical information about the IEEE and its predecessor organizations.

Insurance Committee: advises and assists the IEEE Board of Directors on matters relating to IEEE corporate and member insurance programs.

Investment Committee: advises and assists the IEEE Board of Directors on matters relating to IEEE investments. 

Marketing and Sales Committee: in partnership with the Sales and Marketing department, is responsible for IEEE marketing and sales strategies and activities, including but not limited to, packaged intellectual property (IP) products.

New Initiatives Committee (NIC): identifies, recommends and monitors new initiative projects and programs consistent with IEEE’s vision, mission and Strategic Plan. 

Nominations & Appointments (N&A) Committee: is responsible for making recommendations of the most qualified individuals for positions elected by the IEEE Assembly and appointed by the IEEE Board of Directors.  

Strategic Planning Committee (SPC): is responsible to the Board of Directors for assisting the Board of Director's development and annual review of an IEEE Strategic Plan. 

Tellers Committee: supervises the processing of ballots received and the tallying of the votes on matters normally on the annual election ballot submitted to the membership of IEEE or to groups of members for a vote.

Women in Engineering Committee: facilitates the development of programs and activities that promote retention of women in engineering.
